From a young age, Oksu harbored a deep passion for painting, leading them to pursue technical art studies at the tender age of 12. Their early education was marked by a commitment to creativity, attending art-focused middle and high schools that honed their skills and artistic vision. In pursuit of a deeper understanding of traditional techniques, Oksu was accepted into the prestigious Oriental Painting Department at Seoul National University, where they graduated with distinction in 2022. Their graduation piece was selected as a representative work for the university’s comprehensive exhibition, a testament to their artistic talent and dedication.
In the same year, Oksu’s art was showcased in several key exhibitions, including the 12th Scout Exhibition at Gallery Imaze in Seoul and the ‘Misi-Gam’ exhibition at Wooseok Gallery. These opportunities allowed Oksu to connect with the broader art community, garnering recognition for their distinct style and mastery of traditional painting methods.
Seeking new horizons and an innovative fusion of art forms, Oksu relocated to New York in 2023 to merge their painting background with the world of tattooing. This move marks a pivotal point in their career, where they aim to blend the fine art of painting with body art, bringing a unique approach to modern tattoo artistry. Oksu’s journey is one of continuous evolution, combining the rigor of traditional techniques with the bold creativity that defines contemporary tattoo culture.
